Territoires en Résidences is an on-going programme initiated by the French public innovation laboratory 27e Région. 15 'residences' intended as long period immersions of multidisciplinary design-driven creative teams in local public institutions will be organised over the period 2009-2010: Enhancing a local digital social network to support citizen connectivity in the city of Rennes; turning a new college into a resource for small towns around in Champagne-Ardennes region; investigating the 'City 2.0' in Bordeaux; fostering cross-fertilisation within a programme of projects for sustainable energy in Alpes-Provence- Cote d'Azur... are some of the topics that emerge from this situated participative innovation process with for each the aim to co-design with local players an articulated set of long term scenarios and a short-medium term program of projects geared at triggering social change towards sustainability in the hosting institution.
Residences are a flexible and efficient format of innovation on the territory. These real-scale experimentation addresses an intermediate level of action both deeply rooted in local contexts and meaningful at the territorial political scale.
