Director & Founder of Clear Village
Thomas Ugo Ermacora is a passionate dano-italian urbanist and geographer acting mostly as a creative social entrepreneur focused on sustainability. Visionary behind the CLEAR Village Foundation Initiative, Ermacora owns the change production consultancy Etikstudio to promote sustainable lifestyles through experience platforms such as exhibits and events for which he curentlty acts as Strategy & Creative Director, involving curatorial practice and concept design.
He has recently worked with Esbensen Energy consultants to optimize the Gehry Masterplan for Sonderborg Project Zero, been involved in the preparation of a low carbon city index with the WWF, and established a name in cycling culture development through a travelling exhibition selected as official COP15 prelude and supported by the Danish Foreign Ministry called "Dreams on Wheels".
Cycling all over from a young age in Paris, he has voluntarily quit activism to establish alternative advocacy through communication which started when the Paris Danish Embassy's Cultural Attachee commissioned a cycling exhibit from him as an eco-city enthousiast and professional in 2001. This led to a number of ideas flousihing, and ultimately in the implementation of the Velib bike-sharing program and has since been connected to the design circles in cycling trying to make it attractive to urbanites, for instance with Biomega.
Beyond his main work engagements, he acts as business angel, advisor or in the board in a few early stage green start-ups such as the Material Connexion Award 2009 nominee Cellucomp ltd Curran company, or the worlds largest digital sustainable design publication Inhabitat.com. Ermacora is also an international speaker and moderator at a number of design and planning events such as DesignBoost, invited as jury to competitions such as Dwell's Reburbia, referenced as a Regional Ambassador for INDEX, laureate of the Moscow NEXT architecture festival, expert for Club of Amsterdam Think Tank, a member of the TED community and Royal Society of Arts Fellow.
